I'm really unsure about getting a PAO or not
I started feeling some hip pain a few years ago after training, so I gradually started cutting back on exercise, and even though I slowed down a lot, last year I got diagnosed with moderate hip dysplasia in both hips, CAM impingement, and a torn labrum
I’ve been doing physio since then, and it actually helped - I don’t really have pain in everyday life anymore, I just can’t do intense sports like I used to, but overall I live pretty normally without major issues
The thing is, my surgeon still recommends a PAO, and that’s where I’m stuck ... it feels like a big surgery to go through when I’m not in constant or extreme pain, and on top of that, PAO seems like a relatively recent procedure, so I can’t really find long-term results or stories from people who did it 10+ years ago to see if it really made a difference!
I keep wondering if it truly helps prevent arthritis or if it really delays the need for a hip replacement, and right now I just feel really confused and unsure about what’s the best decision
