Bali - Emergency passport

We fly to Bali on Sunday and I just saw that my wife‘s passport will expire at the end of January. According to the website Bali government states that passport needs to be valid for 6 months. Today we went to the Einwohnergemeindestelle to get my wife a new Swiss passport and they told us to get an emergeny passport. At the aiport, they told us that it could be difficult to enter as many tourists have been denied entry with such a passport. My question is do you have any experience with this?
