Being asked to return back to work after Regional Training Day ends?

Hello everyone, throwaway account here

I'm currently an IMT, and I'm rotating into a hospital where we are being asked to book study leaves for our regional training days, but if the RTD Ends early(which some RTD's do tend to do, and run only till 13:30 or 1400), we are being asked to return back to the ward. Just wanted to know if we are losing a whole day of study leave, Should we not have the rest of the day off? or have I got this wrong? is there any written policy about the same?
