Has anyone built something to track new ideas in diabetes care?

I’ve been thinking about building a tool for people with type 1 diabetes like me. It would go beyond the usual advice and help us find new ideas that aren’t being talked about much in the diabetes world. every once in a while I do a deep dive and find something that's really interesting but I'm sure I'm missing things as I can't do this ofter enough.

Most of the time, the advice is the same: count carbs, take insulin, stay in range. That’s fine, but there’s so much more research happening right now in other areas that could help us. My thought is that it would be very cool to create an app that could track emerging ideas or small studies that show promise ( and cross reference them with eachother)

  • GLP-1s (which are usually for type 2 but help type 1s I lost too much weight on a study about this but then found some studies suggesting that a much smaller dose may be beneficial)
  • The effects of mushrooms or other compounds on rebuilding Islets
  • Hormones like testosterone and how they affect insulin sensitivity
  • Possible cures or long-term improvements that haven’t been fully proven yet but show promise
  • Connections between sleep, the microbiome, stress, fasting, and blood sugar

I want to create something that brings this kind of information together. It would track data from my CGM, insulin dosing, meals, and habits. But it would also keep an eye on new studies and developments and suggest insights based on what it finds. Even if a new idea isn’t 100% confirmed, I’d still want to know about it if it looks like it could be helpful.

My goal is to build a smarter tool that helps people find new ways to manage diabetes or maybe even move closer to a cure. I’m guessing others with more technical skills may already be working on something like this, but I haven’t seen anything yet.

If you know of anything like this, I’d love to hear about it. And if not, maybe it’s time to start building something. Even if other people are working on similar projects, the more people trying to solve this in different ways, the better.
