AIO: Breadcrumbing Advice

Happy Monday, fellow potatoes! I could use some advice. AIO What do you consider "breadcrumbing?" How long between texts do you wait before you begin to think he isn't as interested as he says?

For context, we live in different states. He contacted me, first. We're roughly the same age, but it feels like I'm the one carrying the conversation now even though the first few weeks were great.

I've brought the importance of communication up once before - he apologized and expressed how nervous he'd gotten with how real things are getting. He did do better for a bit after that, but I feel like he goes into love-bombing mode after not texting for 48 hours.

I feel like I'm being breadcrumbed, but it's a new term for me and I five 2nd chances but not sure about thirds...
