Caring for 70s Frye boots?

Helllooooo, by the grace of god i have come into possession of my dream black label Frye boots. they seem to have been well cared for considering their age (50+ years) but i truly am so afraid every time i wear them. i clean and condition them after every wear but does anyone have advice for protective care that i can use to avoid the black marks and scuffing? or alternately, can that be taken care of with polish? i am new to leather care obviously. thank you <3
