Serious advice only please help
Hey everyone,
I recently joined a new job as a fresher in a big company. A girl also joined two days ago in the same batch. She’s new with us, but she’s worked here before and left a few months ago. Now she’s rejoined.
Here’s my situation. I had a very painful breakup in the past. It left me emotionally shut down, and I hadn’t really talked to any girl since then in that way. But the day this girl joined, I don’t know what happened — something clicked. It felt like love at first sight. I genuinely hadn’t felt anything like that since my ex.
We sat together all day. We didn’t talk a lot, but we had a few nice conversations and shared a couple laughs. I brought lunch and insisted everyone on the table try it, not just her. She tried a little when I encouraged her.
During one of our chats, I asked how she came to the office. She said she came alone. I offered to drop her home, casually. She said, “No, it might be too far for you.” I replied that I really wouldn’t mind. She still said no, but I insisted maybe 2–3 times. Not in a creepy or forceful way, just a light “It’s no problem at all, I don’t mind.” She finally said, “If I don’t get public transport, then maybe.” I said okay and didn’t push after that.
At the office gate, I asked again once, just to check, and she said her friend (who is also our HR) was coming to pick her up. I said “Alright then,” and we both went our ways. But while I was walking out, we made eye contact, smiled, and gave each other a little eye gesture goodbye. No words, just that.
Now here’s where my overthinking is kicking in badly.
I think she probably already knows I’m into her — not just because of how I was acting and showing extra care, but also because my teammates started teasing me in front of her. That probably made it really obvious.
I’m worried she might have told her HR friend (who is also her best friend), and now I’m scared this could turn into a complaint or something serious. I didn’t say or do anything inappropriate. I was just being nice, maybe a little too nice. I haven’t felt something like this in a long time, and I think it got to me.
Later, I also found out from someone that she had a really bad heartbreak in this same company a few months ago, and that’s why she had left earlier. That hit me hard, because I’ve been through the same thing. I get it.
Also, during our conversation we realized she used to live in my neighborhood before, but we never met. Now she’s shifted somewhere far, which explains why she said it would be too much for me to drop her.
I don’t want to come off as desperate or unprofessional. I don’t want her to feel uncomfortable, and I definitely don’t want to risk my job. I just honestly liked her. After everything I’ve been through, it felt nice to feel something again.
So to all the women reading this:
Did I actually go too far?
What should I do now? Should I just stay distant and focus only on work? But I really liked this girl maybe love idk but if it risk my job i will get over her
