China Eastern from London to Auckland via Shanghai - any experiences?

Hello :) I'm looking to fly from London to Auckland in October, and have been looking at China Eastern with a 11 hour stop in Shanghai Pudong.

Has anyone flown this route recently and have any experiences to share? China Eastern appeals because of the price but have generally read very mixed/ bad reviews. Also does anyone have any experience with Shanghai Pudong airport - any advice for changeovers there etc.
