Spelling 8yo Son

Okay I’m not sure this is even the place to ask but maybe it can lead me in the right direction. My 8yo son is going into third grade. He’s in a life skills class and integrated into gen ed a couple of times a day. He gets speech/ot/pt and pull outs for math and reading.

My question is how can I help him spell. He can read on level maybe even above level but he is super confused what letters make what sounds and how to put words together no matter how “simple” is there something that helped you? Something I can look into? Just a little insight would help. He may be a Gestalt language processor but no one has ever said that to me.
