Go Let It Out and Gas Panic! are my two favorite Oasis songs

Discussion

I've been a fan for more than a decade now (I'm 29), and the two songs that stood the test of time for me are those two. I'm not even such a fan of the album, although Roll it over and the B-side Let's all make believe are wonderful too, but I feel like the production is top notch. The most timeless of the Oasis catalogue. The most Beatlesque.

Go Let It Out is incredibly underrated. It's almost never in people's top 10. The production is perfect. I love the song title (the reference to Hey Jude). The attitude. The "pick up the bass!". The mellotron. The psychedelic instrumental with reverse guitars. How the chorus comes back with a bang just after, with Liam sounding on the top of the world.. Incredible. Chills.

Also, this album and especially those 2 songs feel like an epilogue to Oasis. It's the middle point, but it's also an ending: as if, after this one, they kept going only for the money and because it became their job (and it showed). It's the last written while the original members were still in the band.

Songs like Gas Panic and Let's All Make Believe are like comedowns of the 90s, with the the second one sounding like an ironic manifesto to what their legacy and the rest of their career will me (a bit like "Carry That Weight" was, to keep up with the Beatles references...).

I just wish that the whole album was as good as those two absolute gems that are Go Let It Out and Gas Panic... A couple more songs as good, and it would be my favorite Oasis record.

TLDR: Those two songs have become my favorite Oasis songs, I feel like they brought something new and exciting to Oasis, they got out of the 90s sound (although there is nothing to hate there) with an awesome and more timeless production, and a darker and more psychedelic vibe.
