Is there a prestige title/ character that transitioned well back into more mainstream comics without feeling cheap

Fans constantly complain about how Bendis took characters like sentry, the hood, Jessica Jones after coming out the gate swinging with critically acclaimed titles, lost a lot of their luster after being folded mostly closely into mainstream titles.

Similar story with things like Hellblazer where it was a lot less highly regarded during the new 52 era, or things that should have never been touched like watchmen.

But is there an example in the reverse. Where something that was prestigious was treated with respect when being more folded in. I’m thinking what Excalibur did for captain Britain where it takes some of the characters of Captain Britain and while not on the level of Captain Britain never taints the brand.
