Is staying in a job you hate for "at least 1 year" still a thing in SG?
There’s this unspoken pressure in SG to “tahan” at least a year, even if the job feels completely wrong. But in reality:
- The probation period is mutual - if it’s bad, leaving early might be smart.
- Staying too long in a toxic role can mess up your mental health and confidence.
I know people who've toughed it out and later grown into the role. So what’s your take?
Have you ever quit a job really early in Singapore - and was it worth it? Did leaving fast ever backfire on your resume? How do you separate “normal discomfort” from “this role is a terrible match”?
This is something not enough of us talk about openly.
