Should i Take the Risk 4060 to 3080 ti. 💬 RMA for dead RGB on RTX 4060 – card discontinued – should I grab a used 3080 Ti?
Hey everyone,
I'm currently in a bit of a situation and could use some advice.
I sent in my Gigabyte RTX 4060 Windforce (3-fan, with RGB) for RMA almost 3 weeks ago, because the RGB stopped working. The card itself was still working perfectly, but I wanted the issue fixed under warranty.
My retailer (Notebooksbilliger, Germany) said the process could take 3 to 6 weeks, but the problem is: this exact GPU is no longer being sold. So now I’m wondering – will Gigabyte try to repair it, or will I just get a refund?
Now here's the dilemma: Someone in my city is selling a Gigabyte RTX 3080 Ti Vision OC (white, 12 GB) in excellent condition for €400. I originally paid around €300 for the 4060, so I’d only need to add €100 for a massive performance jump.
My concern: What if Gigabyte ends up repairing and returning the 4060? I’d then have two cards, and mine has a dead RGB – so it's basically unsellable or would lose significant value. On the other hand, the 3080 Ti is a huge upgrade and this is a solid deal.
So my question is: Has anyone had similar RMA experiences with Gigabyte for cosmetic issues like RGB failure? Is it more likely they’ll repair it or just issue a refund if the card is no longer in production?
Thanks a lot in advance for any input!
