My dream baby name has just been ruined

NSFWtragedy (not tragedeigh)

So I've always loved the name Kiera/Ciara for a girl or Kieran/Ciaran for a boy. They've been my favorite baby names since I was a kid, both because of how they sound and because I'm ethnically Irish (and would like to give my future child an Irish name).

My fiancé and I recently began discussing names for a cat we plan on adopting, and that convo eventually evolved into baby names for our future children.

I of course immediately brought up my love for those names, and to my surprise, my fiancé (who is Persian), immediately laughed and said there's no way we can name our child that. I was taken aback and asked why, to which he said "Kier" is slang for penis in Farsi.

So yeah, considering our child would be half-Persian, we can no longer name them Kiera or Kieran. Luckily I have other names I like, but to quote Berry Keoghan in Banshees of Inisherin, "well, there goes that dream."

I realize outside of this context, these names are completely normal, but considering the context it could be deemed a tragedy 🥲
