Navigating attraction to others

Hey all, weird situation happened today.

I’m an intern and was doing a dry run of my final presentation with a few members from my team. The environment was informal, and I’m rather extroverted so I find presenting to be on the lighter side of things. In general, there was no reason to be nervous. Or so I thought.

There was another individual from my team in the room that I find pretty attractive, to the point that it involuntarily started to cloud my thinking. The dry run was a disaster, I had to stop three times to apologize for blanking out. My vocabulary got reduced to a max of five words and I think I missed a couple topics of discussion. Terrible feeling, especially since last week’s dry run went great.

This same situation has happened within school as well. The attraction to others reduces my brain and social skills to nothing. How should I navigate through these feelings? As much as I try to fight off unnecessary thoughts they keep flowing. It gets worse when I become aware of my sudden shift and then focus on trying to be normal again.

If anyone else has experienced something like this, insight would be greatly appreciated.

Tl;dr : cant focus around hot people
