Different generations & parenting “normals”
My kids are 10 & 4 and my daughter told me yesterday at grandmas that she was smacked by her. I’m breaking cycles in my family with my husband. Today I spoke up again as I’ve done a few times because they don’t believe in gentle parenting and I can’t believe I have to defend my own parenting actions.
You don’t hit kids, you don’t hit my kids End of story.
(Explanation of why she hit them and how I don’t know how to punish them correctly)
I respond same way you don’t hit kids, you don’t hit my kids end of story
( she explains that’s how she was raised and how she raised us and how she will raise them if I’m Not there.. even if it’s from another room )
I say same response. This goes on for a few times I keep giving same response. That’s all I need to say. I eventually walk away because clearly she’s not smart enough to understand
Then says I shouldn’t believe what kids tell you If my kids say they were hit, touched, you best bet I completely believe them. I’m not gaslighting them
I’m shook.
