My 23 month old - regression?

General Question❔/ Discussion 💬

Not sure if it’s the “typical toddler” timing, but I feel I am going crazy and could use some input, solidarity or anything really!

My LO is 23 months and recently I’ve noticed she doesn’t seem herself at daycare. Spoke to the teachers and they said she has great days but she is in fact strong willed/does what she wants and when she wants. But at home? She’s wild, happy, laughing and everything in between. She has the usual tantrums but after redirecting, it tends to resolve fast. All the time prior though she LOVED daycare (happy in pictures, giggling, playing etc). Now every picture has her sucking her thumb, looking sad and staring off. She refuses to wear her shoes now too and of course every picture from school, she’s the only toddler with no shoes on…. lol she’s back to putting stuff in her mouth before spitting it out (rocks, books, stickers, etc). She has been gnawing on a lot on things lately hence why I originally thought teething related.

This last week however, the home life actions flipped too. Every day she’s up by 4am crying (she usually sleeps 10-11 hours)- (adjusted the times last month as I noticed her sleep pattern changed as a friendly note). I thought maybe the 2 year molars but I haven’t seen swelling. She has no fever or other illness symptoms either. Of course anytime I ask someone, it’s the same “my toddler never went through that” or “my toddler isn’t going through that” and it’s infuriating because I clearly know my LO isn’t the only one in the world being this way LOL. When I also say “typical” toddler, I feel she’s in the normal realm of things usually hence the term “typical”—- I don’t have high expectations of her acting “reasonable” or “well behaved” because she’s only 2…. lol. Shes been walking since 11 months (running by 13 months), talks a lot and within the last few weeks having straight conversations with me, learning new likes and dislikes etc. She’s very active otherwise (30 minutes of tv daily only and that’s first thing in the AM only). I play with her a lot and she also has no issue with independent play.

Is this all “expected” for the 2 year mark? Like a regression of some sorts? Everything you read either says 1. Yes, 2. no, or 3. GET HER EVALUATED SHE NEEDS INTERVENTION FOR OVERSTIMULATION…. lol I’m sorry but what kid isn’t, and same goes for adults 😝 I’m sorry if this is a swirl of info—- just feeling crazy lately and not having a village I can go to doesn’t help. Appreciate everyone here who read this :)
