For the first time in my life, I stopped myself from blaming myself for another person rejecting my friendship

Hi!

I grew up in a household where I had to obsessively please others so I have this tendency to take it hard when others reject my goodwill. There is this classmate of mine that I always treat in a friendly manner and they still avoid me or act distant. We even live at the same dorms. Not expecting a friendship or invitations but I expect some reciprocation of gestures of goodwill!

Something that reminded me of that fact came up today and I stopped myself from spiraling! I extend my good will and good vibes to a great ton of people and most respond positively. This is not on me. This is on them. I just need to keep being true to myself and move past it. Their loss.

Usually, I would spiral and I would feel like shit for a couple of hours. This time? 5 mins. Done!
