AITA for not planning my own birthday party for other people?
My birthday is in a weeks days and I don’t have any plans. It’s never been a big, important celebration. Well this year my family asked me “What do you have planned for your birthday?” And when I told them nothing they got offended. I was surprised by this because, again, it’s never been a big deal but am I suppose to plan a party for myself so my family can see me on my birthday? Few days after that a family member texted me and asked if I wanted to stop by for cake, and they set unspoken rules of “you’re not welcome to stay any longer than necessary”. Nonetheless, I said sure. When my grandma asked if she could come she was told no there isn’t enough cake and this isn’t a party. Then said family member told me that if I want a party maybe I can rent out a place for my family to meet up at. Mind you I’m a 22 year old that does not come from wealth. Am I the asshole for not throwing myself a birthday party for my family?
