Need help please

I got a student loan last year for my freshmen year, and I want to get another one for this year. My dad was added as a co-signer, but this year he does not want to be a co-signer. My mom said it is a bad idea taking him off as a co-signer. (My parents are divorced, so I’m the main communicator between them.) I had to learn about students loans all by myself, so I get still overwhelmed about all the information. What is y’all opinion?
