What does modern Hebrew mean to you?

Recently I've been trying to process our century's place in the wide scope of Jewish history. It seems to me like the most important part of it was the modernization and rebirth of Hebrew. The thing that we would have accomplished with all this even if Israel were destroyed and we were exiled again (CVS). So to help me understand whatever it is I'm groping for, tell me, chevreh,in your own words, what modern Hebrew means to you.
