[LotM anime] Should I watch the anime first then read the LN? Or skip to the LN instantly?

I see in almost every comment about the anime, people recommending reading the LN because of how amazing it is. I am quite new when it comes to reading big books / many volumes, only read a few so far and in shorter amounts, but I am very interested in this after seeing the praise for months now. However, I personally have appreciation for visuals, and it would probably gain extra points for me, at the same time a lot of people are suggesting reading the animated episodes as it includes way more and better details. Considering I highly enjoy anime / visual and sounds in general, should I watch the anime then read the chapters where the anime ends, read from the beginning, or skip anime as a whole (for those who compared anime to LN).
