Was MoP Warlock overhyped?

Before MoP Classic you couldn't go into a thread without seeing someone saying this was "the Warlock expansion" and that "this was the best time to be a Warlock"

- but raids have now opened, and they are so clearly inferior to many DPS specs. Is the class super gear dependent? Do they become god-like in phase 2 even with a nerfed godlike trinket ? Did Blizzard nerf them into the ground with all the changes made to class balance?

As a new player to MoP, what's going on with this?
