My post got screenshotted to r/FuckCarscirclejerk. It was the one where I asked carbrains to make a good argument. DO NOT BRIGADE.

Carbrain

I had a suspicious feeling that the subreddit was carbrained, and this basically confirmed it.

They basically decided to attempt to make a good argument that car-dependency is good, even if some people can't operate them. And if anyone's curious about some highlights from that post, I'll quote block a few since image posts are banned today. Starting with...

these people are acting like intercity travel just doesnt exist, what about if you dont live in a city or need to go out of a city to go to work or something, checkmate. cars are useful.

When I was in Silver Spring, MD, I frequently took the DC Metro to get in and out of DC as well as Arlington, VA, whenever I wanted, all without a car. So, checkmate carbrains.

People who drive cars aren’t fighting to get rid of public transportation or bike lanes. What world to they live in? It must be lonely to assume everyone who doesn’t hold exactly the same opinion as you is your direct enemy and nemesis.

The Premier of Ontario would like to have a word with you. And yes, indeed, people who drive cars aren't against public transit and bike lanes. It's the carbrains that do. That's the difference.

Because being dependent on public transport timetables is so practical, right?

From my experience, yes. And I wouldn't call it being "dependent" on public transport timetables; rather, I'd say it gave me the true freedom of transportation as someone who can't drive due to epilepsy.

I live in Europe, and I don't have a car yet. I use public transport to and from work (10km) and to visit my family (100km each way). There are times when I can use a family member's car or carpool with coworkers and I save 20mins to and from work, and 1hr (2 if there is traffic as you can go on alternative routes in a car) to and from family. That is considerable time saved (40mins every day +2hrs every visit), which can be spent on whatever I want.

You can thank public transportation for making your commute in a car faster. Had public transit not been available in your area, it would take longer to get to where you want to go in a car, as many people who would have otherwise been in public transit are now in cars. Thank you for making my argument for me.

Now, here's where the comment section goes off the deep end and uses my epilepsy against me, which I don't appreciate.

That epileptic should be allowed to drive fast on bendy closed roads tbh

Um... No thank you. That does not sound very safe.

Why would I care about convincing some disabled guy that the vehicles he can't use are good for them?

Because that's the premise of my post. Make a good, convincing argument why cars are so good that we have to make our entire country revolve around them.

How about just stop being epileptic and drive a car like a real man. I can do it drunk, so you should be able to do it sober even with disabilities.

You admit to being a drunk driver? Even if that part was just a joke, do I really need to explain why I can't drive even if I wanted to, and why drunk driving is so dangerous?

Again, DO NOT BRIDGADE!
