Sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m panicking.
We recently learned our attic fan was hurting us not helping us. It’s our second summer. We were under the impression it should run (on a thermostat) during summer. It ran ALOT.
It recently crapped out (it’s very old). We found out for unrelated reasons it was creating so much negative air pressure our hot water heater in the basement backdrafted who knows how many times.
We have steam heat. The pipes are wrapped in ACM. The pipes are in the walls. The exposed basement pipes were abated. There are some encapsulated pipes in the basement ceiling that were not abated but are enclosed except for 2 openings in two closets where they go in-out from.
If our attic fan was causing the HWH to backdraft and creating that much negative air pressure…is it possible it’s been sucking up dust from the enclosed pipes in the walls/basement ceiling and pulling it up through the floors and all over the house?
I’m sorry if this is stupid I just thought about the logistics and this is freaking me out.
