AIO or are they being rude?

So I showed someone a screenshot about a zoo near me asking local pet owners to donate small unwanted pets to feed the zoo animals. I was expecting them to find that as just.. Not okay like I do. They laughed at it and says "It's just the circle of life." I've known them for a few months now. They kept insisting its the circle of life and just how it is and laughing. I'm pissed because I think this is serious (because people are fucked up and will bring puppies for christ's sake) and will backfire on the zoo. I'm autistic so I have a higher sense of justice and I could be over reacting but this is a big issue for me as someone who wants to be a vet
