Your attic could literally be a goldmine
Hey all, was helping a friend clear out their attic last week and we stumbled upon a treasure trove. Like a lot of boxes of old VHS camcorder tapes... retro film reels, super old action figures that no one even knew they had. A box full of old baseball cards from ~1980s i think. His parents wanted to toss most of it as they were just trying to clean their attic, but after looking up a few of the retro items on ebay, it turns out a few of the stuff was actually worth a couple hundred bucks online.
There's a market for retro, throwback, nostalgic goods, and if you were going to throw away stuff from your attic, it's worthwhile just checking on ebay to see if they're worth anything. Most of the time they likely won't be worth the shipping, but sometimes you'll find something worth a couple hundred, or even maybe $50, and you can literally just list it and sell it.
Sometimes even stuff that parents think were just junk, ends up being worth a hundred bucks to someone on ebay.
Long story short, doing some back of the envelope math, my friend is currently pocketing ~$1.8k from selling all the stuff from his attic that they were going to give away / donate / toss. The bin was a mix of retro games, old vases and lamps (that had to be dusted and cleaned first before listing on ebay), and some baseball cards that ended up being worth a lot of money.
TL;DR: Might be worth double checking stuff in your old attic before completely tossing them. Could be a nice pay day for you! (But don't sell anything that is important to you!)
