My husband hates my younger child

We have two children grown now young adults and I’ve seen him pick on the younger one mainly because they are more independent and will not meekly take input. They are not abrasive and I think it’s a good quality to have but it annoys my husband to the point they have daily fights or he will go days without talking to them. And it’s just bothering the heck out of me. Me butting in doesn’t help because now he is mad at both of us and it makes the situation worse for them.

I just want to scream sometimes figured i would come here and do it.
