Combined pill - bad times and thinking about stopping it, any advice?
Hi. I've been taking Yacella, which is a combined pill, synthetic versions of estrogen (ethinylestradiol) and progestogen (drospirenone), for about 10 days. It's been 10 days of hell. Brain fog, depression, bloatedness, shooting pains in joints, muscle pain, extreme fatigue, rage, cognitive dysfunction, the lot.
I want to stop it. I'd rather go back to the cycle I know (context below). My question is, will it affect my cycle after 10 days? Is it better to push through and see if it calms down? Will it calm down? Currently I feel like I want to scratch my eyes out, and everyone else's while I'm at it.
Context: I've had PMDD for about 8 years, though I struggled to get a diagnosis until earlier this year. It used to be extreme horror, in the last couple of years it's become manageable, just minor symptoms compared to how it used to be. Still, I'd get fatigue, brain fog and low libido, plus very painful periods. Finally got a diagnosis. Wanted to see if medication could improve things. Doctor said it's the pill or antidepressants. I went for the pill.
