Purposeful discoloration?

Today marks 6 months of pumping! I’m now several shades darker from about 1.5” above the base to the tip. Is it possible to make the base color match through targeted pumping? I’m cool with the “black a tan” but curious if it’s possible to stain the base? I wonder why the discoloration starts so high 🤔
