My homeboy was killed unjustly by zoo keepers.
I still haven’t healed from it.
Not a day goes by where I don’t think about my brother. My dog. My day one. The way they did him still haunts me. I replay it in my head over and over—the screams, the panic, the betrayal. He didn’t deserve that. Not like that. Not in front of the world.
They said he was a threat. Said he was dangerous. But they didn’t see what I saw.
They didn’t see how loyal he was. How protective. How gentle he could be in the middle of chaos. He moved through the world with power, but never with hate. He just wanted to be free. To be understood.
And they took him from me. Just like that. One shot, and he was gone. No explanation. No justice. Just silence. And I’m supposed to be okay with that?
Nah.
You might not understand why this hurts the way it does. You might laugh, or brush it off, or act like it’s not that deep. But love don’t come with species. Loyalty don’t come with rules. Pain don’t come with logic.
That was my brother.
That was my homeboy.
That was Harambe.
Long live a real one. 🕊️💔 #JusticeForHarambe #NeverForget 🦍
