4 years out: dental school sucked but was worth it
I’m sure you all heard DS isn’t fun. I went through it and it was fine, but truly looking back, that was the most stressful 4 years of my life so far. Partially because of a breakup, but a majority of it is how all inclusive school is, in a bad way. I think a nice thing about undergrad, is that typically the people you run in circles with are not the same ones you do every single class with. In Dental School, the only thing everybody has in common is classes. So people end up being even more obsessed with school than normal.
I honestly loved school more once I started making friends outside of Dental School. I still love my Dental School friends, but it was so fun too have friends that had regular jobs, or were in a different school path.
In my limited experience, things were more fun when I broaden my involvement in things. I ended up getting really into a wrestling club and learned how to fly. I made a lot of new friends that I still am very close with to this day.
So if anybody thinks that Dental School will be another four years of fun like undergrad, I think there is a chance that it is, but in most cases it’s not. All my closest friends from Dental School agree we would rather spend four years in prison than four years in Dental School
