Life is inherently meaningless and yet performing meaning is the most pleasurable experience we can achieve

The true nature of reality exists outside of the dramatic stories we spin up for ourselves every day.

We all find meaning in love, for example. If we have love, we're happy. If we don't have lot, we're sad. But love is an illusion, (a good one).

The truth is, we spawned into this world, and we have become dependent on others for a sense of security. When someone makes us feel good, that signals security, and that is what we fall in love with.

It's always been conditional. It's always related to the self, and that's okay. Even a mother who loves her children, by extension, is really in love with the hard work and outcome of her life, something she put a lot of work and thought into.

Is that work and thought and love inherently meaningful though? Truthfully, it feels good, it can be thought of as desirable, but the mother and her kids will share the same fate as everyone who has ever passed in humanity.

You might say "if the mother raised her kids well then that is a net positive for humanity, which makes that love inherently meaningful."

But the truth is, the mother, the Earth, the kids, the future, it will all disappear just as fast as we spawned in.

You know what makes people feel large amounts of love? Novelty. Something new. Something that when experienced expands our identities. What we're really afraid of is emptiness, but emptiness is what we truly are.

This is why people cheat. Because they get tired of the same experiences. If unconditional love was real, how do you explain the billions of people who were cheated on throughout history?

Humans desire novelty. If they dont get it through other people, through love, they find it in other abstract ways.

Some through TV, some through working out, some through having children. The common pattern is an attempt at meaning that drifts once it becomes predictable.

And yet its the best we got. Its the most enjoyable path. To embrace the human experience of emptiness, and to add novelty into the lives of everyone around us.
