My Ex has emailed me 2 years after his restraining order.

CONTENT WARNING: SUICIDE/SELF HARM

So a bit of context I (21M) broke up with my girlfriend (24F) over 2 years ago. I broke up with her for a few reasons but mainly so I could focus on getting my degree as I was going through a lot at the time and knew I couldn't be in a relationship with her. I know looking back that I could have tried harder but at the time, I was young and naive, completely new to dating and didn't know what to do with myself.

Unfortunately, she didn't take it too well at all and every day would constantly harass me, try coming to my place of work, threatened harm to themselves and was blaming it all on me. I was only 18 at the time and it was so scary but despite blocking her and ignoring every message, she persisted. In the end I contacted the police to do a welfare check and eventually got a restraining order due to the severity of the messaging and threats.

Since this time, I have heard nothing from them and I have moved on in life but have never dated since then, just in total fear of having that happen to me again. Whilst I was going through my emails today however, I found something in my spam from 3 days ago from her. An apology email. All of the memories have just flooded back, and I am suddenly scared again, she still knows where I work and could easily try and seek me out again. She wouldn't hurt me, I don't think but no matter how much I move on, the fact that an email like that could take away years of progress, kills me inside. The last time I got an apology from her, she threatened killing herself and now it is like I am back there all over again. I hate that she makes me feel like this despite all this time but I am still going to power on because that is all I can do.
