My special interest was ruined and I still can’t come to terms with it.
Last year, the creator of one my favourite shows was accused of SA and as result the show was changed from a full season to a one 90 minute episode special.
Before saying anything else, I want to acknowledge that the justice of the creator’s victims are much more important than a tv show. But he has yet to face any true consequences in my opinion the cancellation or truncation of a tv series is not justice for SA. Only criminal convictions are.
Most people in the fandom are still sad isn’t a full season anymore, but most them have moved on and are grateful they something rather than nothing. I wish I felt that way too, but I don’t. To me, this finale just feels like scraps and a consolation prize for the creator being a massive POS. It feels like less than bare minimum of what was suppose to be an exciting last season to the show. The change happened so last minute, the quality of the one off special will probably be questionable at best.
Other fans have been telling me “just be grateful you have anything” and “well at least we have some closure” but it’s really difficult for me to settle and be grateful for scraps and consolation prize under the best of circumstances never mind ones like this. And I never cared about having closure, I cared about having a full well executed ending. And if it isn’t those it’s “at least the creator’s victims are getting justice” which for the reasons I explained above, don’t help.
My special interest was ruined and the damage has been done. The season cannot be remade and the creator cannot be remade into a good person. I have tried so many other things to fill the void of it but haven’t found anything to stick. All my memories with it are tainted and that won’t change even when I do find another one.
