Being asked about children as a young lesbian couple
Me (22) and my gf (24) after being together for a year are surprisingly asked about if we want kids or not a lot. We are asked via friends, we are asked via my parents etc. this to me sounds like such a weird question to even ask a straight couple this young, let alone a lesbian couple who will always have to think deeper about have children as we can’t have them together biologically (obviously there’s ivf but that’s a completely different thing). What do you even say?? me and my gf atm seem to just respond with a confused face and “idk?? We’re not really sure if we want kids yet?” like I have yet to even finish university yet, but I am still asked this question “do you want kids?” - i don’t know how to shut down the question in a normal way. I assume straight couples go through this, but not often or Isn’t as odd of a question because accidents could always be a possibility but for us it just seems such an odd question.
How do you shut questions like this down without further discussion? Like we are so young why does my mum want to know about grandchildren at 22?? Maybe it’s because I’m the only one in a relationship out of 3 siblings but seriously
