C5 Pre-2001 Conversion to 2001-2004 EBCM?

As the title implies, I’m wondering if anyone actually has went ahead and done the pre 2001 C5 EBCM conversion? I’ve seen the forum page pop over several years where one guy explained it in detail, but I haven’t heard from anyone else actually being able to do it. What I’m wondering is if any mad scientist here has done it with success or plans to?

For reference, I’m considering this option in light of current EBCM prices for my ‘99.
