How to be a better leader?

I joined a year ago (in my junior year) but the entire year it was basically me and my section leader being best friends and one other guy that joined the same year but was just there. But now that she graduated, I feel like I’m not really connecting with my other section mates and since I’ve been playing the same amount of time as them I don’t feel good enough as a section leader/well enough to lead. Any advice on how to get closer to them and also getting them to listen more? (I play mello btw)
