Aeroplan overhaul coming tomorrow

This has been rumoured on FlyerTalk for a few weeks now, but someone has shared an employee memo indicating it is being announced tomorrow and someone used a web inspector that shows their APIs are returning text that says "A new way to earn status starting Jan 1 2026" so it seems to be real.

The FT thread doesn't have much specifics, other than SQS/SQM/SQD are all being replaced with a unified Status-Qualifying Credit (SQC), so sounds like a pure revenue-based model rather than distance-based.

Who knows if that will be the end of EQD, but assuming CC spend can now accrue SQCs (in place of the current SQS/SQM boost), you may be able to earn status above 25K through just CC spending.
