My kid needs glasses

I’m not sure what I’m looking for here. I took my 2.5 year old to the optometrist for no particular reason other than we have coverage and thought it would be good to have a checkup. My son has had good vision as far as we knew. It was going fine, but he was getting the little picture identification mostly wrong. He keeps saying a picture of a hand was a bumblebee, a person riding a horse was a cow, a house was a barn. I thought “he’s little and using his creative brain”. Just a little into our appt, the Dr says “he definitely needs glasses… moderate-severe farsightedness…”. Did some more tests and concluded that he needs glasses and if we don’t get them, he will develop a lazy eye. I’m just feeling so weird about the interactions. I don’t believe it for some reason? I also don’t know much about optometry and no one in my family or my partners wear glasses. Should I seek a second opinion? Could the dr have made a mistake? Anyone relate? Ugh. I just feel so overwhelmed and sad for him. He keeps saying “I don’t want glasses” while crying.
