Need help picking new irons

I’m currently a 14 handicap and improving, I have been playing for 5 ish years with my grandpas old irons. They are ping g2s with regular soft graphite shafts. Looking to get away from the graphites and get some modern clubs I can use for a few years to come. Any ideas without spending over a grand?
