This is Fierro! He's one of my main ocs, he's a character I'm very attached to and I've done a lot of work over the past year developing his story and lore. I've recently been working on giving him a redesign, and I'm currently caught between these two different versions of Fierro. I can't decide if he should be a cambion (half devil) or half undead (half lich specifically). So I'm wondering what other people think!

His general story and personality won't change much, it's just a design changeup and it will affect details in his lore and his magic.

In both versions, he is the spawn of something evil. Either a high devil if he's a cambion, or a powerful lich if he's undead. His mother was killed (burned at the stake specifically) and he was set to be executed as well, but he was spared and taken in by his guardian from then on, Archmage Caspian. A powerful elven wizard and politician, he took Fierro in as his apprentice and servant. Fierro grew up being abused and practically tortured by Caspian, starting as nothing but a slave to the wizard before his natural magic abilities from his father started to develop (infernal magic if he's a cambion, necrotic magic if he's undead, plus minor psychic powers for both). In both versions he loses something important at the hand of his master, that being his wings as a cambion and his heart as an undead (replaced with a phylactary). Now as a young adult, Fierro has his entire soul set on being the next archmage. He has plans in mind, plans to both have power against the people who harmed him and to also create reforms to help people like him.

I'm really torn between these two versions of him. I think I like the design for Cambion Fierro more, but the lore implications of Undead Fierro is so much more interesting (in my mind). I'm curious what other people think on which version of Fierro I should continue to use, and which one I should scrap (and probably repurpose). Don't just focus on just the design, please think about lore implications too!

Which version of Fierro should I use?
