Whats more important? Sex or the person?
I have been creeping on this page for a while now, because (unlike the spouses described in other posts) I genuinely do care about my partner and our sex life. I've stayed up for nights because of fear of resentment. For the most part, I completely understand where my partner, and everyone on this side comes from. It's hard for me to differentiate ya'lls words from my partner and it stings and hurts...especially if because I am trying. It's not just one reason either. I told him why things have been difficult, he won't talk to me, but when he does so in a way to specifically hurt me it feels. sometimes sex hurts (endometriosis), sometimes I literally cannot get aroused, and also just general stress and exhaustion. I've been the only provider going on a year and a half. We haven't been completely sexless, maybe about 2-3 sexual activities a month, maximum right now. However, it used to be 3-4 a week...but that wasn't enough either. And it has been this way for about 8 months, since my dad died. Even when I do try now, I'm met with offputting attitude. I'm sure this post is going to get a lot of hate for being on this side of the topic...but I'm actively trying. It's incredibly painful to hear from someone you love that your actions aren't enough, constantly. I show intimacy and love with non sexual physical touch, acts of service, and quality time...and it's just gotten to a point where it feels like absolutely non of that matters. Quite literally broke me to hear him call us roommates, when I had been doing my hardest to do what I can to make it better.
We are a 24 year old couple, and I'm just wondering if this relationship should end...since 99.99% of these post seem to end in divorce. I truly love him, and care about his happiness. We typically spend almost every minute together, laugh and smile like other couples...until this subject comes about. It just doesn't seem like there will be an ounce of understanding on this front. I don't want to waste his time or his spirit if he will only grow to hate me. I want him to be happy for the longest amount of time, and if I can't adjust this then I don't know what to do. Just the thought of him one day, talking about me like this terrifies me. I am working on it the best way I know how and I'm constantly reminded of how I'm not enough, when I already feel like I do everything.
