Andy as the new Karen

This may be a bit out of left field.

Every generation has a Karen who wants to speak to your manager, Felicia is bothering you hence “bye Felicia”. Yet as someone who grew up in the late 90’s and early 2000’s I knew three really mean girls all named Andy.

She would yell at you for saying Aundrea, or AaNNdra, feeling persecuted by others accents she switched to Andy. She maybe did it as an ode to female leads in chick flicks who where the cool girls Andy from pretty in pink, Andy from how to lose a guy in 10 days, or Andy from the Devil wears Prada. Either way she became Andy around 5th grade, and spent the next 7 years or more actively bullying people then playing the victim.

Now she’s a grown woman who invites you over for a house party in her 30’s that either turns out to be her tricking you into babysitting her kids or throwing an MLM party. She sells nail stickers, and Swedish cleaning products at family funerals while trying to one up every story. She won’t ask for wine or alcohol but instead asks you to ask for it for her. She won’t ask to speak to your manager she will make her friends do it as she pretends to cry then pouts.She is a nightmare who is terrified of abandonment but is so busy gaslighting people that she doesn’t realize this is why people abandon her. She is your manager at your first minnimum wage job who starts her requests with "sooooooo, I was thiiiiinnnnkking," or "Hey gurl" signaling she is about to ask you to work a double, on your day off, or her shift so she can go to Santa-Con. For some reason she has a 2010's valley girl accent where the end of every sentence has a stark inflection but has never lived in a valley let alone anywhere near Southern California. When you go out to Karaoke she screams at you saying youre doing it wrong while you clench your jaw at her singing.

The new Karen is passive aggressive, plays the victim, thought Machiavelli was a guide to how to get ahead in life but lacks genuine follow through. She will compete with anyone, and everyone correcting people like she has a PHD in anything but really got her sham degree from a for profit scam college. We have all met her, we all avoid her, and we all cringe.
