Am I in or nah? Cuz I’m going crazy

I’m going to keep this as short as I can.

I’m not sure how they got my resume, but I got a call out of the blue for a position I’m genuinely very interested in. They scheduled an interview for two days later. Then the interview itself was only 15 minutes long, which surprised me, considering it’s a pretty sensitive role. About half the time was spent on the usual “tell me about yourself” question. Still, they mentioned being impressed more than once and even shared some insider info about upcoming expansion plans related to the role. I sent the interviewers a thank you email a couple hours later.

A week after the interview, I got an email asking me to complete an online test through a 3rd party platform, which I think I aced.

At the 2 week mark, I sent a follow up email to my recruiter. I got an auto reply saying they were out of office and to reach out to a different recruiter. I did, and that second recruiter replied within three minutes, thanking me for the interview, acknowledging I completed the test on time, and letting me know I was still under review.

At the 3 week mark, my original recruiter returned and sent me a form requesting personal information a photo ID, etc... That was the last thing I received from them now I’m in the 4th week since the interview, and it’s been over a week with no further updates.

What’s throwing me off is that the last email (the one with the form) was clearly sent to multiple people. It was generic and addressed to “undisclosed recipients,” which is a shift from the previously more personalized communication.

My questions:

  • Does this timeline still fall within normal wait times, or does it sound like I might just be a backup candidate at this point?
  • If I don’t hear anything this week, would it be reasonable to follow up again next week (which will mark two weeks since their last contact)?
