I thought The Crippled God was supposed to be the best of them...

SpoilerSPOILERS MBotF

I'm sorry, I'm just annoyed and I wanted to vent. Or I just wanted some kind of reassurance that "things" will get better, Idk. And I'm sure I'll be downvoted out of this world for saying this, but where did all the pure joy from reading/listening to this book go? The last three books of the series (this one included, currently at the middle of book two from tCG) feel more like doing chores than anything else - at least large portions of them. Just ploughing and ploughing, until you get to the rare and scattered gems. Why are all these old, ancient characters, just constantly thinking and saying all the same kinds of exhausting and tired stuff for prolonged periods of time. It's just too much, too often and says too little. And the narrative just stands still, nothing's going on. And I am not convinced at all that it's contributing to the "grand scheme of things", writing-wise or lore-wise or even character-wise. And it wasn't like that with the previous books from the series. Maybe just a little bit, here and there. But nothing too exasperating. Why is nobody having any negative reactions towards the writing style of the last three books? Don't you think they need an editor (too late now, but just saying) ? Why is everything all praise all the time for this series? And yes, it's my favourite fantasy series too. But there are problems there, if you ask me. I just hope I don't get disappointed by the last one. I was/am expecting so much of it. I'm just, I'm just a little bit angry. Just a lil tiny bit. Grrrr. Ok. Vent over.
