Crown of the tyrant question.

So ive never used this helmet before and its bis gear for my merc, i understand the enemies have -10 to all resistances part, however the socket part is confusing me. Is this part even accounted for, when looking at the power of this helmet? Also its chaos damage per white socket, but is that accounting for MY sockets or the mercenaries? Does the merc even get socket bonuses from his own gear? BC when i slot a piece of gear in, the sockets go away. Mostly just wanna know if me having more white sockets on my own gear will scale my chaos damage while the merc is wearing the helmet. Thanks :)
