Concerned about this Snapchat interaction

OK so a while back about 6 mounths ago I met this guy on gta online and he asked for my Snapchat so I agreed! He told me he was 15, witch is my age. Fast forward to earlier today he randomly texted me "don't worry" so I said what? Witch he follow up with "nothing" and " i losed it" I read it and before I could reply he said the world "suicide" so I said r u joking if u are joking around then that's messed up and he just said sorry, so I found this wierd because why tell that to a stranger so I immediately thought he wasn't he he said he was and I was being groomed so I blocked him on everything to get unenvolved', did I make the right decision? feel free to share similar situations and stuff:)
