New to fountain pens

I have never owned a fountain pen and want to purchase one. I’m wide open to suggestions. Does it matter what kind I get? Is price indicative of quality? Are some more of a hassle than they’re worth? Am I simply overthinking a mundane endeavor? All suggestions and nuggets of advice are welcome.
