Last Act 3 Battle feels out of place
I'm wrapping up a honour playthrough right now and finally got to that last stretch on hot pursuit of the Elder Brain. I've done it other times but I think I never quite thought about it. It feels completely out of place when compared to the rest of the medieval fantasy theme, being more akin to a Dragon Ball Z movie.
What I mean is, we spend the whole game fighting on dungeons or open fields or close quarters at houses / fortresses. It seems very grounded, despite all the high fantasy stuff, on a Tolkien note. We position ourselves, we fight for high ground, we hold choke points, that kind of stuff.
Then comes that final stretch. Suddenly the maps are enourmous and vertical, your enemies are aliens that can fly all over the place while they shoot energy projectiles at you. There is no choke points. Stuff is so far away that you simply can't walk. The high ground position positions are like 30 feet tall and require flying and / or Naruto jumping to traverse properly. To counter it, I obviously filled my character with spells like Misty Step and Fly as well. My most funny character in this context is an OH Monk, which is fighting on par of an early Dragon Ball Z fight.
The downside is that classes that make sense on a grounded, enclosed settings, like Cleric, make little to no sense in this fight.
This fight is in such stark opposition to the previous endgame ones like Cazador and Raphael - both more in tone with the rest of BG3 - that I feel I'm like playing a completely different game.
